Nitride after the work
Rifling and stress relief happen first. H&M black nitride is the finish step, then the M4 extension is torqued. Port is .076? for this 16? mid — not a 14.5? mid or a 16? carbine. Muzzle is 1/2-28. Do not treat this SKU as the 416R stainless 16? mid (556-16M-17-M4-SS) or the CHF chrome-lined Rod of Judgement.

4150 CMV + H&M nitride
4150 chrome-moly vanadium under a black nitride surface from H&M. Nitride hardens and protects the bore and exterior without a chrome lining. Built for a working rifle, not a stainless target tube.
Stress relief, then torque
Barrels are stress-relieved after rifling so the contour does not walk. Extensions are torqued after nitride so the finish is on the steel before the extension is locked.
